I find myself sitting here tonight going over the various decisions that I have made in my life to lead me to my current point in existence. I shall attempt to note a few of the things that I have learnt and perhaps wish I had known sooner in my last 19 years of life.
1. I am 14, I know everything.
Ahh yes that glorious period in your life where you believed that you knew everything there was to know in the world. It did not matter what the subject was or who you were talking to you simply knew best. You could sit down with steven hawkings and discuss the theory of black holes and you would still attempt to tell him that he was wrong.
Trust me when I say this, you will look back at this time every time you see that annoying 15 yr old shit with the big mouth that you just want to slap. I will lay it out simple, you know nothing. Nothing at all, close your mouth and move on with life for a few years.
2. Your ruining my life – You do it because you hate me!
Parents. Loving, caring and determined to ruin your life? When your parents tell you that they dont want you stalking sydney alone with your freinds wearing big jackets and talking all gangsta, they aint doing it to be a prick. They are doing it to protect you despite what you may believe. My parents always told me that one day someone bigger and taller then me would beat me down for opening my mouth. You know what? They were right. Multiple lacerations in the head will teach you that.
3. Money tree
Despite what you may believe that 500 dollar Nike jacket you want is NOT free. Just because you dont understand where the money is coming from does not make it any cheaper.
4. School is for losers
Too cool for school eh? Seen one to many stories of high school drop outs earning millions? It does not happen for everybody and chances are that if you do not take it seriously you are selling yourself majorly short. I quite often had problems at school and ended up leaving at an early age.
Now I earn a good wage, I have nice things and I dont exactly struggle. There is however a rather large drawback. It is not a good feeling to be in a conversation with a group of people and be unable to hold your own due to a simple lack of knowledge.
Stick it out, you will regret it later in life. A little investment now, despite how hard it may seem could go a long way.
5. Life in the fast lane
Cant wait to grow up can you? You want to drink, smoke, drive, have sex and earn lots of money! Hey sure I am not going to lie, it’s a fast paced hectic lifestyle. Once you are prepared for it. I spent so much of my childhood yearning to become and adult that I forgot to enjoy the years that I had without all the responsibility.
Sure you do all the fun things but you also get to do some really crap stuff. Rent, electricity, phone, jury duty, voting, legal stuff, food, work, repairs, stress, cleaning and the list goes on.
Enjoy the fact that you can lounge around at home playing halo or whatever it is you do and watch in glee as your mum follows you around with the broom and dustpan.
Anyway that is an end to my rant. This list of course will not be applicable to all however they are just a few things that I often think of that had I changed them, could of altered the course of my life. While I would of prefered them to be a little more indepth I belive that they still get the basic point across. I welcome any feedback that you may have in regards to this post.
Nice write up, It takes a strong mind to look back and be able to flaw your actions, Thanks for reminding me of the bad old days
Ohh that’s just jay!
